Originally, we designed this rod to extend the range of one of our most popular 6-foot Spin Jig Rods (the 722). It shares the same power rating, but that's where the comparison ends. The 842 has a fast taper for long-range casts and the perfect blend of power and feel for deep-water jigging. When you sweep the rod, a lot of line moves - and that makes it a good choice for heavy-duty split shotting and light-duty Carolina rigs. It makes an excellent buzzbait rod if you prefer spin fishing over casting, and the 7-foot length aids in ripping minnow baits over deep-water humps and points. What's more, it handles wind and larger baits equally well.
